Religious Education at Alston Lane
We are a Catholic Primary School and 10% of our timetable is given to Religious Education.
We use 'Come and See' as our main teaching resource, but supplement this with content from several other sources.
Phonics and reading in Key Stage 1
At Alston Lane we use 'Letters and Sounds' as our phonics scheme across the infant classes. This is supplemented by additional resources to comply with the expectations for children in school. This system of synthetic phonics enables children to blend sounds which helps with early reading and writing. We also supplement this scheme with other content to ensure it meets Government guidelines for phonics teaching.
