Lessons in School

At Alston Lane Catholic Primary School, Key Stage 1 classes begin the day with structured phonics sessions, whilst Key Stage 2 classes engage in high quality guided reading with the teacher. 

English and mathematics lessons typically take place during morning sessions.

Key Stage 1 begin the afternoon session with guided reading followed by topic work and learning in other subjects.

Key Stage 2 afternoons include a combination of different subjects. 

Religious Education in our Catholic school is taught for 10% of curriculum time. This equates to approximately 2 hours per week in the infants and 2.5 hours in the juniors.
