Science Experiments

Science Week 2022 starts on Friday 11th March.

This year, we would like to challenge the children to become scientists at home and try out some of the experiments and investigations below.

Email pictures of your scientific results to Mr FitzGibbon (head@alstonlane.lancs.sch.uk) and these will be shared on our website and during our celebration assembly on Friday 18th March.

These experiments comes from Science Bob, an American scientist.

Choose from the selection below or follow the link to watch and try out even more fantastic experiments.

Many of you had problems with this experiment. A tip from Adrian Bowden (Science Roadshow presenter) is to use a large jar. Put vinegar in the bottom and sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on top. When the foam dies down, the carbon dioxide gas can then be poured off to extinguish the candle. (Remember to only pour the gas off and not the foam/vinegar).

See some Optical Illusions

Follow the link to the Science Bob website and enjoy these optical illusions.
